Tie One On Tuesday

Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Aaaaaahhhhhh yeeeee! Mardi Gras is here and we are celebrating the night away!

Whenever I think of New Orleans, I think of Hurricanes. Not the kind that drive everyone out of the city but  the kind that makes ya get a little cray cray. Ya know, the kind that makes you do naughty things for beads. Oh, don't act like you haven't flashed for a few beads, guys...looking in your direction, us ladies would never do anything like that. What do you take us for?

The Hurricane
1 oz white rum
2 oz dark rum
3 oz orange juice
3 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
1/2 oz grenadine syrup
crushed ice

Combine all ingredients, shake it like a Polaroid picture. Strain over crushed ice in hurricane glass.Get a silly straw and let the good times begin.

Once on Bourbon Street a guy bet me five dollars that he could tell me where I got my shoes. It sounded like I couldn't lose so I gave it shot. He told me that I got my feet in my shoes and shoes on Bourbon Street. Yeah...I didn't think it was funny either. He consoled me by mixing up a yummy bourbon drink and I forgave him for taking my five bucks.

Bourbon Slush (this recipe makes enough for 14 people, or 7 if you want a double)
1 can of frozen orange juice
1 can frozen lemonade
1 can pineapple juice
1 1/2 cups of sugar
2 cups black tea
2 cups of bourbon
2 liters of 7-up

You made it through Mardi Gras, you need something to help with your pounding head. Serves ya right! Overindulging like that-what were you thinking? Don't worry, mama's got the perfect drink to get rid of that nasty headache.

Hair of the Dog
6 oz. gin
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
3 dashes hot sauce
1/2 a chili pepper
Pour the gin and hot sauce into a shaker with ice and shake, but not too hard! Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with the pepper.

Oh my! Are we ever gonna have a fabulous time tonight! No need to worry about tomorrow, it will take care of itself! Let the good times roll, my friends! XOXO

Scrappy Dog Sunday

PUPPY BOWL!    PUPPY BOWL!    PUPPY BOWL!

It's finally here! The Puppy Bowl! We are so excited at Casa de Pedersen!

Lola can barely contain herself...

Lola! It's the Puppy Bowl! Ummm....Lola?

Oh, I know Jujube is excited! Oh wait, that's just her look when Pete eats all the peppers off the nachos.
Jujue

And speaking of the boy child...He is ready for some Puppy Bowl! He heard there is going to be a cute little Min Pin there. He even made a valentine for her. Grab him while you can, ladies. He won't be single for long.
Pete before dinner

Although the dogs may not show it, they are excited to see the puppies racing around, the kittens playing and the hedgehogs roaming the field. They also know that all the puppies are adoptable and will go to great homes and that Pedigree helps save and feed a large number of animals every year. So, even if you can't watch the Puppy Bowl this year, why not take a lead from Pedigree and donate to your local shelter. Every little bit helps!

Sweetheart Bib Necklace

Okay, I'll admit it, I am just giddy with myself. I tried a new craft and I love the way it turned out!

I had pinned this necklace and just fell in love with it. I had to have it! The instructions were SO easy that I gave it a try. I used glass beads instead of acrlyic and my beads and chain were slightly bigger. The necklace is also a little shorter.

And a close up of the necklace

I can't believe it I did it! I am so making more of these!

Love (and cake!) are in the Air!

I'm feeling the love...awwww yeah! Got the mantle all dolled up for Valentines!

 Valentine Mantle

I made this garland last week. It was so simple. Just cut the felt into two pieces, fold over, and sew the other side. Easy peasy!

Not only was I lovin' up the house, I was stitchin' up some cake! I am working on a birthday cake stitch along  and just finished the January cake. I really like the very light "snowy" colors. I can't wait to start of February's cake!

Feel Good Friday!

FRIDAY! I LOVE YOU! I almost love you as much as cupcakes and puppy dogs!

So much to be happy about this Friday! First off, OMP got the clear from his doctor that he is completely released and doesn't have to come back for a year! YAHOOOOOOOO! So happy! I was in tears when I found out. Big thanks to everyone who reached out and kept us in their thoughts and prayers. Love you guys!

Now let's see what other happies I can dig up for ya! We have been using this phrase around our house quite a bit lately. Time to make the woofles! Cracks me up!

Have you guys discovered Dog Shaming yet? Oh my goodness! So funny! On Fridays they have adoptable puppies which makes this site even better! I think Pete needs to be the dog shaming mascot. He is the pee king!

Speaking of dogs...I need this for our house. How can three little dogs create so much fur? Super Cool Pets has this mat as well as other things you don't really need for your pet, but you really want.

Well my little mutton chops! The sun is shining in my neck of the woods, which is very rare for a January day, so I am going to head outside, freeze my butt off and enjoy the sun for a minute or two. I hope everyone has a fabu weekend filled with woofles and a side of bacon.

Let the Love Begin!

I love decorating for the holidays! I started decorating for Valentine's Day by making this yarn wreath. I love the color combo of pink, red and white.

I will be making a heart garland later this week as well as putting up my famous or infamous "SUGAR BUNS" banner. Cause, ya know, OMP is the one and only sugar buns!

Not only am I decorating for Valentine's but I am also participating in  the 50 crafts challenge on Craftster.org. So far I have made 2 crafts but I have a year, right? I better step up my game! I decided my first craft would be a cowl that I crocheted for myself. Let me start by saying that I really didn't know if I was crocheting or just tying a bunch of knots or just pushing yarn around. I completely winged it, didn't follow a pattern but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Now I have a cute cowl to keep me warm. The yarn I used was called "camo" which totally cracked me up because I love pink camo. Don't judge!

Are you working on anything right now? Getting ready for some smooching on your honey? I need details!
