Sweetheart Bib Necklace

Okay, I'll admit it, I am just giddy with myself. I tried a new craft and I love the way it turned out!

I had pinned this necklace and just fell in love with it. I had to have it! The instructions were SO easy that I gave it a try. I used glass beads instead of acrlyic and my beads and chain were slightly bigger. The necklace is also a little shorter.

And a close up of the necklace

I can't believe it I did it! I am so making more of these!

Love (and cake!) are in the Air!

I'm feeling the love...awwww yeah! Got the mantle all dolled up for Valentines!

 Valentine Mantle

I made this garland last week. It was so simple. Just cut the felt into two pieces, fold over, and sew the other side. Easy peasy!

Not only was I lovin' up the house, I was stitchin' up some cake! I am working on a birthday cake stitch along  and just finished the January cake. I really like the very light "snowy" colors. I can't wait to start of February's cake!

Feel Good Friday!

FRIDAY! I LOVE YOU! I almost love you as much as cupcakes and puppy dogs!

So much to be happy about this Friday! First off, OMP got the clear from his doctor that he is completely released and doesn't have to come back for a year! YAHOOOOOOOO! So happy! I was in tears when I found out. Big thanks to everyone who reached out and kept us in their thoughts and prayers. Love you guys!

Now let's see what other happies I can dig up for ya! We have been using this phrase around our house quite a bit lately. Time to make the woofles! Cracks me up!

Have you guys discovered Dog Shaming yet? Oh my goodness! So funny! On Fridays they have adoptable puppies which makes this site even better! I think Pete needs to be the dog shaming mascot. He is the pee king!

Speaking of dogs...I need this for our house. How can three little dogs create so much fur? Super Cool Pets has this mat as well as other things you don't really need for your pet, but you really want.

Well my little mutton chops! The sun is shining in my neck of the woods, which is very rare for a January day, so I am going to head outside, freeze my butt off and enjoy the sun for a minute or two. I hope everyone has a fabu weekend filled with woofles and a side of bacon.

Let the Love Begin!

I love decorating for the holidays! I started decorating for Valentine's Day by making this yarn wreath. I love the color combo of pink, red and white.

I will be making a heart garland later this week as well as putting up my famous or infamous "SUGAR BUNS" banner. Cause, ya know, OMP is the one and only sugar buns!

Not only am I decorating for Valentine's but I am also participating in  the 50 crafts challenge on Craftster.org. So far I have made 2 crafts but I have a year, right? I better step up my game! I decided my first craft would be a cowl that I crocheted for myself. Let me start by saying that I really didn't know if I was crocheting or just tying a bunch of knots or just pushing yarn around. I completely winged it, didn't follow a pattern but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Now I have a cute cowl to keep me warm. The yarn I used was called "camo" which totally cracked me up because I love pink camo. Don't judge!

Are you working on anything right now? Getting ready for some smooching on your honey? I need details!

Tie One On Tuesday

Holy cow! It's been a long time since mama has had a cocktail! Maybe that's why I've been so cranky lately.

It's a new year and a new you. Skip those "cleansing detox" drinks. They are disgusting.

You want something green to drink-here ya go. Skip the crazy wheat grass green mold ick and try these instead.

The easiest and most girly drink ever is an apple martini. It taste like a jolly ranger! Drink too many of these and you will be detoxing your way to the bathroom and you might find religion by praying to the porcelain gods.

Apple Martini
2 ounces vodka
1 1/2 ounces of sour apple liqueur
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
Fill shaker with ice, add ingredients and shake. Serve up in a chilled martini glass and let the fun begin!

I LOVE mimosas! They are heaven to me but sticking with my green theme I decided to mix it up a bit with a Melon Mimosa. Adding the sweet and sour mix takes away a lot of the sweetness brought on by the melon. Again, don't even think about drinking too many of these-your face, carpet, walls will match this green cocktail.

Melon Mimosa
1 ounce Melon liqueur (Midori has a wonderful green shade)
1/3 ounce of sweet/sour mix
4 ounces (or more) champagne
Into a champagne flute, layer your champagne, midori and melon liqueur. Mix lightly and serve.

Okay...so I think this shot will release the demons that you have trapped in you, actually, I think it will release anything you have in you. I'm pretty sure that this "green" cocktail was actually a dare. Thank you Liquor.com for this truly odd drink.

1 shot of Irish whiskey followed by 1 shot of pickle brine

Oh goodness...that just made me shudder!

There ya go! No need for a silly detox, just over indulge in a few cocktails and your body will force you into losing those unwanted pounds. Just kidding! Always drink responsibly! Now go out there and get your green drink on and trust me, these are much better than any wheat grass green mold you could ever try to get down your gullet!

Birdie Num Nums

I am a huge backyard bird fan. I love feeding all the birds in our backyard and watching the little guys fly in and out. I was lucky enough to have a chance to make a video for Craftster featuring homemade bird seed cakes.

Here they are hanging from our Wisteria.

Don't forget your hummingbird buddies too!
Chuck the hummingbird

A mixture of 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 cups of boiling water and you have a wonderful hummingbird food. Boil the 2 cups of water for 2 a few minutes then take it off the burner and add the sugar. Mix until dissolved.

Your little birdy friends will love you! Try to get different types of seeds to attract different birds. Have fun bird watching!

The Year of Me

 via coolpicbro

Do you make New Year's resolutions? Instead of resolutions, I try to come up with themes. I am a huge theme person. Last year I tried to make it the year of "Treat Yo Self!" Well....that didn't turn out so as planned. I got bogged down with reality, dealt with a little heart issue and OMP. Tthe year of treating myself went into the year of making sure the OMP was alive and kicking. I guess in a way, I did treat myself. I get more of OMP! Yahoo! Win for me!

I tried to think of theme this year and here are a few I came up with:

The year of folding laundry (HA, I crack myself up)
The year of not yelling at people while driving (oh, that's a good one)
The year I don't let the dogs walk all over me (HA HA HA!)

Finally, I came up with the best them ever....the year of me. This theme fits like a glove! I will take time to love myself, enrich myself and surround myself with positive, loving supportive people. In turn, I will try to be the best to I can be to others.

I'm not talking about being self centered at all. That is not okay! The year of me includes every aspect of my life. It allows me to be a whole person and thus give to others to let them be whole. To have a year of me means to be conscience about those around. Do they lift you up? Are you lifting them up? Think of me as the whole picture, the whole world.

I think the year of me is also thinking outside my comfort zone, not staying in a rut. Get out there, try new things, meet new people. Giving people a chance that I might never have before. I might make a new best friend!

What is your theme this year? Are you going to have a year of me?

Reading is Cool

Guess what OMP got me for Christmas? A Kindle! I guess he got tired of hearing me debate with myself about getting one. Can I just tell you how much I love it? SOOO awesome and it's making me read more.

I have been cruising the net trying to find great deals or free books. There are a ton out there! Here are some I found:

This website is basically your local library. You can check out books for certain periods of time. They have a lot of current titles but the wait can be a little long.

Amazon has daily deals and lots of free books. Also, if you have Amazon Prime (79.00 per year), you can get in on the Kindle Lending Library. You borrow books from other Kindle users for free, which is very cool!

Gizmo's Freeware has a list of 74+ sites for free legal downloads. Some sites are a little iffy but it's worth combing through them all for some interesting reads.

Hundred Zeros is another site with thousands of free books and links you back to Amazon.

Those are just a few. There are SO many out there. A lot of the sties have daily emails that contain a list of new books. One thing I am finding out-there are a ton of really bad romance novels out there. HA!

Do you have a favorite Kindle site or app? Any suggestions for this newbie?

Scrappy Dog Sunday

2013! The year of getting stuff done....and by stuff, I mean naps and by getting it done I mean more naps.

The holidays can be so exhausting...

Let's see...go outside in the cold and rain or take a nap?

Oh Pete...the feet straight up in the air...you're killing me. You've killed your mother.
