Scrappy Dog Sunday: The Sleepy Edition

YAAAAAWWWWWN! Winter is a time for sleeping! We need to save up our energy for spring and summer squirrel chasing.

Looks like the Pedersen boys had a bit too much fun on Christmas....

Don't bother me...I'm sleeping. It is very exhausting being so cute.

Other puppies make the best pillows. Lola sleeps where Lola wants.

In completely unrelated news, it has been very cold here so we got Iggy a sweater. I left for work and he was not happy about his clothing options, but he was warm.
I came home 4 hours later to a nekkid Iggy. Excuse me sir, this house is not a clothing optional beach resort.

Oh well, back to sleep for a few months.

Countdown to Halloween: Scrappy Dog Sunday

I might be having too much fun with Picmonkey's Halloween themes.

Iggy Pup as a Day of the Dead Dog

Lola may only have 8 teeth, but she knows how to use them.

Don't act so surprised. We all know Jujube is a devil dog.

Poor little Pete, he is just trying to survive with these three little monsters!

Check out Picmonkey for more haunted ideas.

Scrappy Dog Sunday -The Gus Edition

I have a new obsession...Gus.  Gus is a Jack Russell/Pug mix. He is blind and deaf. When I first laid eyes on Gus and immediately thought, "why can't I have a bigger house and a bigger paycheck?" I instantly feel in love with this little guy. I worried about him and hoped that he would be adopted.

Gus didn't have to wait very long to be adopted.

He is adapting very well to his new home and loves his siblings and when not attacking the laundry, loves snuggling with his new mom. Every time I read about Gus, I start to happy cry because I know that he will be loved and have the best time of his life.

I don't know his new mom but I have been following him on his own Facebook page. Check out his videos-he is feisty! He is 100% pure scrap! Lola approves of this little boy.

Having a pet with special needs can be time consuming. I'm not going to lie to you, it is work but it is also amazing. Rescues need our love, they need us. Even if you want a breed specific pup, there are rescues. Yes, you are not sure what you are getting into, but isn't that the fun part of life? Who knows, you might end up with a Gus or an Iggy or a Pete (if it is the last two, then I apologize in advance)

Don't forget to love your furry child (or furry spouse) today. It is good for your soul.

Scrappy Dog Sunday

Do you see this little thing? In a few short months, he has managed to take over my heart and my house. He barks at every little thing, demands to be held and sit on my lap pretty much all the time (I think he was pouting because I set him down while typing this), is the pickiest eater ever and still hasn't mastered the outside bathroom rule.

He also has managed to pull Lola out of a downward spiral. He plays with her and she chases him around. He allows her to wash his face and knows when she needs her space. Pete refuses to allow this little boy outside alone and Jujube...well, she is the bee and is too interested in boy magazines and her iPod.

There are times in your life when someone comes in at the right time. They know the gaps missing in your life and in your heart. Iggy came to us at that time. The universe works in mysterious ways and most of the times,I feel like it's laughing at me, but on that cold February day, it smiled at me and the rest of the Pedersen clan and brought us happiness wrapped in a 6 pound fur coat that barks...and barks...and barks.

Scrappy Dog Sunday: Big Brother

Since we got Iggy Pup, Pete is no longer the baby. He is now the big brother. He isn't so sure how he feels about not being the baby any longer.

You have to put up with a little brother following you around everywhere, even trying to share your bed.

Everyone loves the baby so you have to find ways to stand out and get attention (Thanks Fonzi for the sombrero!)

You get a little tired of your mom taking pictures of "her boys."

Finally, you just give in and realize that being the big brother isn't so bad. You have someone to blame everything on.

You also have someone who looks up to you and thinks you are the coolest ever.

Having a baby brother isn't so bad...even when he steals your toys...

Scrappy Dog Sunday: The Bee!

So many times Jujube gets lost in the mix. The other three are so demanding, but Jujube just allows life to happen She is a quiet little girl who can be shy when given too much attention. She is my little emo teenager.

I don't think she realizes that she is a dog. She doesn't do a lot of "dog" stuff. She has never had to do things on her own.

She has never been without her mom, Lola. They have been together since Jujube was born.

I don't know what happened. One day I turned around and my little girl turned into an old lady. I noticed that she sleeps a little more, is a little bit slower moving up the stairs and seems to get a little more tired chasing squirrels. Where did my little quiet emo teenager go?

Can someone please reverse time and stop it right here. I need more of my Bee.

Scrappy Dog Sunday: The Iggy Edition

A few things about Iggy. He loves surfing the internet, watching funny dog videos.

He also loves telling ghost stories..."and on the door handle was a CAT CLAW!"

He is excellent at doing the cha cha.

He is a huge movie buff

He loves hanging out with big brother.

Getting his picture taken with mom....not so much.
