Feel Good Friday!

BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Scary Halloween Friday to you! Are you ready to get out there and get your spook on? I know I am!

Lacerslife did an awesome job on this Halloween Princess bag. It has the right combo of cute and saucy...hmmm...like someone else I know. You should also check out her Halloween banner-it is super spooky cool!

Whenever I'm at work and I feel like blowing the day off and kicking back to watch a scary movie online, I check out The Monsterclub (check out their facebook page-they have links to movies). I've featured these guys before, but I think you need a reminder of their awesomeness! Movies, old radio shows and great pictures are waiting for you.

A few years ago, I participated in a Halloween Swap with Racky from RackyRoad. She made me this kitty. Well, now you can have your own Halloween kitty or elephant or circus altoid tin. Racky's work is hauntingly beautiful and wildly vintage. I love everything in her shop and as an added bonus, she makes a mean cosmo (or so I've heard).

Rocktober Rules!

What makes a good horror movie even better? I'll tell ya-Rock and Roll baby! Oh yeah! Tuning up my spooky air guitar!

This first one is from my teenage years, when I was a disgruntled punk rocker.  I had the soundtrack when I was  young and thought I was so tough, playing it on my cassette player. What? It was cool! Don't judge! Anyhoo, The Return of the Living Dead is over the top, gory and down right silly. It's chocked full of ridiculous giggles and slimy zombies. I don't think I really need to explain the story...chemicals....dead coming back to life...brains...yadda, yadda, yadda.. This movie is not for family viewing but if you are having a few friends over and don't want anything too scary-check it out. The Damned, 45 Grave and The Cramps lend their funky lyrics to this awesome soundtrack.

Speaking of not judging, this next movie is so bad. I just know OMP is going to say, "Really Pam? I don't think I can be seen in public with you anymore." Just for the record, he will be seen with me and he will love it! Okay, where was I? Oh yeah, my next bad pick. KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park is so awful but it has KISS in it! I can't help it! It's KISS! This was a television movie in which KISS must use their super powers to fight off an evil inventor and save the world. I know, I know...it's bad, but it's KISS!

How many of you grew up in the 80's? How many of you had a crush on almost all the cuties from The Lost Boys? Don't lie, you know you did and you were always wondering why Jami Gertz got to hang with the hotties, I mean, you were much cuter than her with your mall claw bangs and LA Gear shoes! Lost Boys, just like the ones mentioned above, had an excellent soundtrack with the likes of Echo and the Bunnymen and INXS. The best part about this vampire movie (besides the cute vampires) was that they weren't all "poor me....I sparkle,"  they were rough and tough and had style. The icing on the cake was this movie had the Coreys in it. 1980's heaven, baby!

Whether you are shredding your axe or wielding it, these movies are for you! They will get your fist pumping  and bring a giggle or two. Rock on my spooky little monsters!

Scrappy Dog Sunday!

AGGGGGGHHHHHH! Run if you can! Close your eye! Gasp at the horror of the THREE LITTLE MONSTERS!!!!!!!! (da, da., DAAAAAAAAA)

You'll turn away in fright at the sight of FrankenPetey!

You will shake in your boots at the vicious snarling of WereLola!

You will laugh with delight at Jujube until she bites your neck and DRINKS YOUR BLOOD!

If you see any of these wild beasts in your area, give their mother your Halloween candy instantly! It's the only way to save yourself! No crappy old people's candy either-good stuff like whole chocolate bars! It's the ONLY WAY!

Feel Good Friday!

Oh yeah! Getting my Friday on! Spooky style! Whoop! Whoop!

This little Frankenstein cracks me up. He is so cute and his outfit totally reminds me of Granimals from the 70's. Remember those? You had to match up the animals to make an outfit. Anyhoo...my friend Crystal totally rocked this cross stitch!

Fighting zombies is really hard work, making dentures for them is even harder. They get all bitey. Bubble Off Plumb Productions aka Mistress T. did an excellent job uncovering these wonderful specimens. So creepy!

Do you watch those ghost hunting shows? I am a sucker for them. They are the most ridiculous thing out there but I just love them. When I can't get a fix on my TV, I check out The Shadowlands online. They have ghost recordings, stories and sightings of Bigfoot!
via retronaut.com

Oh my goodness! I'm shivering in my boots (mainly cause it's cold in my office). Time to get the fire going, warm up a little cider and finish getting the puppies' costumes ready. They just love trick or treating... Hope you have a fab weekend and enjoy that fall weather!

I'll bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween.

You Could Be A Winner!

Oh my little babes! How I have missed you! I'm sure that you know I love all of you but mama sometimes has business to take care of and can't play. And for the record, I am not a fan of work at all. It gets in the way of me having fun. Oh, to have been born rich instead of beautiful. Le sigh....

To make it up to you, I am giving you a chance to win something that I just finished stitching up! This sampler is a vintage pattern (possibly 60's) and the lettering was stitched with hand dyed Japanese silk floss. I am in love with that floss.  As you can see, each season is represented and the entire piece is about 16-18 inches across and down.

Now, what do you have to do to win? Just leave a reply telling me your favorite season. That's it! I will pick a winner next Wednesday.

Scrappy Dog Sunday!

I'm going to level with you guys, the past couple of weeks has not been the best in Scrappy Dogland. Two of my favorite pups passed away and my heart has been a little heavy. Lately, it seems that all of my Scrappy Dog Sundays have been dedicated to sweet babes who needed to move on.

Butch was a scrappy before scrappy was cool! His sweet face and mastery at tug-o-war made him a legend around the dog park.
He never met an enemy and loved to travel. He was on the go! (I'm suspecting there was some terrier in that little body, just a hunch)
He was spoiled, loved and over the top-isn't that the way all puppies should be?

Oh boy, my friend Olive, what can I say about her? She is quite the contrast to Butch. She is sophisticated, laid back and never met a nap she didn't like

Don't get me wrong, she loved to play too. She was a water dog, through and through.

But naps...that was her time to shine.

Whether romping around the states or just laying back on the couch, Olive did it with style and grace that only a silly black lab could.

I don't think we can ever explain the love for a pet. It is something you have to experience. It is overwhelming, frustrating, and maddening but also warm, unconditional and inspiring. It is feeling like no other and when you lose that, you really do have a hole in your heart. Both Butch and Olive will be missed but in their lifetime, they made us stronger, laugh louder and love more than we ever could before.

Tie One On Tuesday

I'm taking a break from my usual cocktail hour to focus on some nonalcoholic drinks for the kiddies. Now lift those collective sad faces. I'll be back next week with some monstrous spirits but for today, we gotta take care of the kiddles, Haloween style.

This kiddie beverage sounds so wonderful that I may have to make it for myself, plus, the name makes me giggle. Boo Beverage is a fruity and creamy drink that kids will just love.

Boo Beverage
2 cups orange juice
2 cups milk
2 pints orange sherbet
4 ripe bananas
2 cups whipped topping
miniature chocolate chips
In small batches, blend the orange juice, milk, sherbet and bananas in a blender until smooth.
Pour into glasses.
Cut a hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; fill with whipped topping. Pipe a ghost shape on top of each beverage. Position chocolate chips for eyes.

Okay, I found this one on another site and couldn't refuse it by the name alone. It has nothing to do with Halloween, the name just grosses me out.

Day Old Bathwater.
1 12 ounce can of frozen lemonade
1 12 ounce can of frozen pink lemonade
1 12 ounce can of frozen limeade
1/2 gallon rainbow sherbert
Set out cans of lemonade, limeade and sherbert out to thaw (about 45 minutes before serving)
After 15 minutes, scoop out sherbert and mix until it becomes a brownish color and then pour into punch bowl.
Prepare lime and lemonade according to can and pour over brown mixture
For extra scum, take the remaining sherbert,  mix up until brown and float on top of the punch
Special thanks to www.countessbloodshalloweenhorror.com for the recipe

Pumpkin is the king of the Halloween world! A simple pumpkin smoothie will put a smile on those little ghouls faces.

Pumpkin Smoothie
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
3/4 cup milk or vanilla yogurt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. brown sugar
4 ice cubes
Combine ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.

Pour the smoothies into small glasses (this drink is rich) and garnish each with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or whipped topping.
For a fun touch, add a pinch of cinnamon or a few colored sprinkles.

Perfect mocktails for your perfect little monsters. These drinks are wonderful for a trick or treating get together or just hanging out with your mummy...get it, mummy....Hello? Is this thing on?

BOO!

I love scary movies! I don't know what it is but horror movies ranging from silly to down right scary just get my blood pumping.

Ghost stories are the scariest movies to me. You can outsmart of outrun a monster or a killer but when you can't see what is messing with ya, all bets are off for your survival.

My first real scare was when Poltergeist came out. I remember seeing that movie as a preteen and being scared for weeks. The wonderful thing about this movie is that it still holds up well. Tell me that you are not scared of snow on the TV and I will call you a liar! At night, if the channel goes out and you get snow on your TV-you wet your pants. You can admit it and you can thank Poltergeist for that. I'm not even gonna start on the clown.

The innocents is absolutely brilliant. It will scare you,  but in a slow, "am I going crazy" kind of way. The opening credits alone will have you hiding under your blanket. Deborah Kerr plays a nanny who believes that the children and the house she is watching over is haunted. She thinks that it is her duty to take matters into her own hands and help the children.

I saw Ringu at a second run theater and was completely blown away. I became obsessed with Japanese horror and ghost stories and couldn't get enough of them. Apparently, I wasn't the only one bitten by the Japanese horror bug, many American studios jumped on the bandwagon and remade wonderful Japanese horror movies into weak, teen shockers. I'll admit, I'm a little bitter-but I'll save that for another day. Ringu tells of a video tape that if watched, will kill you. They could have just shown the video tape over and over to me and I would have been scared out of my wits! Creepy! The 2001 UK DVD release cover carries a disclaimer, stating that the distributor accepts no responsibility for "for any injuries or fatalities that may occur during or after the viewing of this videocassette. How is that for good marketing...or bad.

There are so many good ghost stories out there that I could go on and on, but I will save you from my words and just allow you to soak these three in. Make sure that you watch them with the lights on, just in case you feel a cold  hand on your shoulder.

Feel Good Friday

 special thanks to auntpeaches.com

It seems like it's been forever since I've hit ya'll up with a Feel Good Friday. I need to make up for lost time!

October is here! One of my favorite months. It starts the season of celebration, which doesn't stop for me until Easter. No wonder summer is so lazy for me, I need time to recoup from all the celebrating!

October can mean many things. It can mean Shocktober....
Ghost and Stories is a great site for all your paranormal needs. You can find great stories, pictures and even games! It might be a little too scary for the younger ghouls but all you old crypt keepers will love it.

For others, October means, Rocktober.Yep, pretty sure I would be rockin' in these shoes.
My friend Ellen brought these shoes to my attention this morning and I'm pretty sure I need to mortgage my house to get them. She also turned me on to a great blog, The Terrier and Lobster. She's good like that.

I think for me, my favorite is Tocktober. Who can resist a cute little butt? (And you thought I was going to put up a picture of OMP's butt, well, I was but he promptly took it down!)

Whatever October means to you, make sure you get out there and enjoy the crisp fall air and while you're at it, grab some of that yummy candy being passed around. It will make you happy!

"There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on
the feelings, as now in October."

Worms, the Other Dark Meat

WORMS! GROSS! I made these super gross jello worms for the latest Craftster video. They actually tasted pretty good but man, they gave me the shakes! The best part about this shoot was the clean up.

And now for the "how-to"...

PS-Heidi, don't watch, come back tomorrow for a non-worm post. xoxoxo

Keeping It Classy

Ya know, life isn't all about fun and games. You really need to be serious sometimes...
I mean, really have some respect for yourself...
Appearance and keeping up with the Joneses are two very important things to remember if you want to get ahead in this world...
People...let's keep composure during these trying times...
Really, I can't be silly all the time.

Tie One On Tuesday

Well, it was bound to happen, fall is here and the rainy season is upon us. Not that I mind at all, I actually like the rain (just as long as it's in the designated season).  Why, even last night we built a fire and curled up on the couch. It was wonderful.

As the season progresses, here are some yummy drinks for you to take that chill off.

Lately, my obsession has been anything with apple cider. I just LOVE it! One of my favorite nonalcoholic drinks is warm cider with Earl Grey Tea.

Brew up a cup of Earl Grey tea but substitute apple cider for water. This drink should be made in small batches, ideally one cup at a time. Anything more is overpowering and a waste.

If you are looking for something a bit stronger to warm your bones, try a Cinnamon Toast-just please don't drink it for breakfast, it might not go over too well with the boss.

Cinnamon Toast

1 1/4 oz. spiced rum
6 oz. hot apple cider
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Mix hot apple cider with rum.
Mix sugar and cinnamon together and coat the rim of the mug with the mixture.

This last cocktail isn't warm but it will definitely heat you up. This cocktail is a old family hunting recipe.

Hunter's cocktail

1 1/2 oz whiskey
1 1/2 oz cherry brandy
Mix together, put it in your flask and after a day out in the woods, let this little baby warm ya up.

Mmmmmmmm.......these yummy drinks will warm your bones and cure what ails ya. Whether it's a nice cup of tea or a shot of whiskey, you will be warm on the cool autumn nights.
